28 28Bradford Street is within walking distance to Charleston's central district, which includes the 120-store Charleston Town Center Mall, Capitol Market, Clay Center for Arts and Sciences, Appalachian Power Park, Charleston Civic Center, and Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC).

Live entertainment is available at the Clay Center theaters, the Kanawha Players, and the Charleston Light Opera Guild. Several of the bars and night clubs located in an area bounded by Hale Street and Leon Sullivan Way also feature live music. The Park Place Stadium Cinemas at 600 Washington Street East has eleven movie screens.

To the east, the West Virginia State Capitol Complex is a twenty-minute walk from the house. In addition to the impressive capitol building, the grounds are home to popular annual events such as the Rhododendron Fesitval and the Vandalia Gathering.

South Charleston is a short drive from downtown Charleston and features two side-by-side antique malls. Nitro, another nearby suburb, also has antique malls.

Coonskin Park, just north of town, offers a number of acitivities including paddle boats. Kanawha State Forest is a twenty-minute drive south of the East End and has 25 miles of hiking trails. The levee along the Kanawha River (just a few feet from our front door) has a paved trail for runners and is the perfect place for an evening stroll.  And, after a day full of activities, you just might want to relax on the front porch at 28 Bradford Street.
